We are a close-knit group of 7 residents who spend a lot of time together at work and outside of work. We’re supportive of each other both in an out of the clinic as we learn and grow as people and oncologists.
While at work, we can often be found in the resident workroom. It is a safe place to do work, and it’s also a fun place to eat snacks and chat. We do have a generous stipend for food and drinks at the various cafeterias across campus, but we like to mix things up with fun lunch outings. It is not uncommon for it to take us all morning to decide what to order, and we’d never get our orders in without our wonderful and trusty dosimetrist Fahad to herd us all together. The best use for our remaining food stipend is to buy ice cream and kombucha for dessert and kombucha happy hour!
Happy hour is not limited to kombucha. We also love to go to happy hour after work!
KARAOKE: It’s our FAVORITE! Some started residency at LAG+USC thinking that he/she was not a karaoke person. All have been proven wrong, for all you need is volume and enthusiasm! One of our residents was renting a karaoke machine so often that he just bought his own setup! It’s been a game-changer, and neighbors rue the day. Some of our favorite songs:
